Many shops now sell similar chargers at a cheaper rate, but as these are untested, there is a chance that these may not work as intended and although they may charge the phone they may cause problems for your battery further on down the line. Its these chargers that also have a higher chance of malfunctioning in conjuction with your smart phone and in very rare cases my cause the phone to catch on fire.
Tips for charging your phone safely
So we have talked about whether you should charge your mobile phone overnight. And we have also talked about the charger you should use. Finally we would like to give you some tips for charging your phone to decrease the risk of any problems.
Take off the case when charging
When you charge your phone generally it becomes hotter. A case can sometimes give the phone less chance of getting rid of this heat and can increase the risk of a phone catching fire
Use the charger recommended by the manufacturer
If you are able to get hold of a charger recommended by the manufacturer then please do. Its safer and will preserve your battery life.
Check for a the quality mark
Does your charger have a CE Mark, or a British Standard Mark? It is important to ensure that it has been checked to ensure that it is in line with international quality and safety standards. Otherwise you could be putting yourself and your family at risk.
Check the output voltage
Check to ensure that the output voltage is the same as the input voltage that is required for your phone. If it is different then do not use it, as this will cause the battery to heat up a lot more than normal.
Do not leave you phone in the bed when charging
Some customers tell me they leave their phone under their pillow. This is very dangerous. Leaving a phone under any blanket or pillow can lead to it overheating and increases the risk of the phone catching fire.
Keep the phone out of direct sunlight
It sounds simple but direct sunlight can also be very dangerous resulting in an increase in the temperature of your phone. So aim to avoid this at all costs.
